The Possessed (1977 film)


The Possessed is a 1977 American television horror film directed by Jerry Thorpe, written by John Sacret Young, and starring James Farentino, Joan Hackett, Diana Scarwid, and Harrison Ford. It is about a priest who returns from the dead to battle satanic forces at an allgirls school. The film was shot on location at Reed College in Portland, Oregon in 1976.

In her dorm room, Lane Diana Scarwid with the help of Alex Carol Jones, Celia Dinah Manoff, and Marty P.J. Soles, play a prank on Weezie by smearing ketchup and other liquids under her bedsheets. Louise Gelson Joan Hackett, Ellens sister and the headmistress of the college, enters the room, and instructs the girls to leave. Weezie returns to her dorm late, but Lane has left to search for her. Weezie witnesses the curtains in the room inexplicably burst into flames. Ms. Gelson does not believe Weezies story, and insists the girls must have been smoking.During the colleges graduation practice, Lanes gown bursts into flames. Ellen and Paul Winjam Harrison Ford, another teacher, put out the flames, but Lane is burned in the ordeal. Sergeant Taplinger Eugene Roche investigates the incident, and Ellen tells him of the other random fires at the school, insisting it is supernatural. Ellen seeks out Leahy to investigate the occurrences. Leahy and Ellen visit Lane in the hospital, where she is receiving treatment for extensive burns to her legs. ........
